Modelling
The picture above shows some prelimenary physical modelling before finalising the design for a small electric borosilicate furnace. These procedures are used where the furnace configuration is unusual, also where a boost has been added to a conventional fossil fuel furnace to ascertain the flow of thermal currents and the effect on the glass. The calculations made prior to this physical modelling will, hopefully, be verified. If the results are not thought consistent then the theoretical and physical models will be revisited and the whole process repeated.
