Busbars
AFT have designed a bus bar system aimed at easing the installation of the bus-bars for electric furnaces and boosts.
The AFT bus-bar system consists of single, double or triple bar vertically positioned aluminium flats for each phase leg. Special polyester multi-bar and single-bar insulating spacers are used throughout for phase isolation. Galvanised perforated and un-perforated tray section and perforated side panels locate around polyester insulators through which the busbars pass. This technique both structurally supports and guards the bus system.
The galvanised trays and panels are strapped around the bus-bar structure using a combination of specially formed stainless steel clips and heavy duty, high temperature, insulating strapping. This insulating strapping, and the designed clearance between adjacent cladding/support panels minimises the possibility of induced emf. in the support/guard structure.
The bottom tray is supported on mild steel carrying rails that are either supplied in semi-fabricated form ready for installation, or fabricated on site.
The busbar system includes all stainless steel fastenings, jointing compound and , if specified, insulating paint etc.
The system is rated to suit the particular boost system or electric furnace application.
